Tea Spoons

FAQs

Tea spoons may be small, but they’re an essential part of any cutlery collection. Perfect for stirring drinks, enjoying desserts, or serving sauces, they’re used in cafes, restaurants, and hotels around the world. Below, we’ve answered some of the most commonly asked questions to help you choose the right tea spoons for your setting.

1. What is a Tea Spoon?

A tea spoon is a small utensil that usually holds about 5 mL of liquid. It's perfect for stirring your tea or coffee, sweetening with sugar, and even tasting or serving condiments. Plus, it’s great for enjoying soft desserts in a more laid-back setting. In the kitchen, tea spoons are super useful for measuring out ingredients, making them a practical and versatile tool to have on hand.

2. What are tea spoons made from?

Most of our tea spoons are made from high-quality stainless steel, usually in 18/10 or 18/0 grades. This gives them impressive strength, resistance to corrosion, and a lasting shine. Some collections even feature decorative finishes or colored PVD coatings to complement various tableware styles.

3. Are tea spoons dishwasher safe?

Absolutely! Most of our stainless steel tea spoons are dishwasher safe, making them perfect for professional kitchens. To keep them looking their best, it’s a good idea to rinse off any food residue before washing and steer clear of harsh detergents that might dull the finish. However, always follow the manufacturer’s care instructions.

4. Where do tea spoons go in a place setting?

In formal table settings, the tea spoon is typically placed to the right of the dinner knife or above the plate if it’s being used with dessert cutlery. When served with tea or coffee, it’s usually set on the saucer next to the cup. Proper placement helps the table look balanced and makes it easy for guests to use the spoon.

5. What’s the difference between a tea spoon and a dessert spoon?

A dessert spoon is larger and designed for eating puddings, custards, and sweet dishes, while a tea spoon is smaller, perfect for stirring drinks or enjoying lighter treats. Both play distinct roles in a complete cutlery set.
